Airline.com Preparing to Launch

Airline.com LogoAirline.com is a great industry defining domain name, and the website is expected to launch within the next couple of weeks. I reached out to the owner of the domain name and Airline.com management, and I have been given some information about the acquisition and development of the website.

The owner of the domain name is a company called Intercontinental Domain, Inc. Although the company signed a NDA when it was acquired, I have learned that it had a “mid 6 figure price,” and it was acquired in a private sale from a company called Airline Information Research, Inc. in January of 2012.

The website on Airline.com is being developed by a UK-based company called Okenyon Webs. The goal of the website is to become the leading online airline and travel community by offering a platform for frequent flyers and travellers to discuss and get everything they need related to their trips, all in one website. Airline.com will primarily be a forum-based website for people to discuss anything related to airlines or general travel (such as air miles deals, discounts, hotel booking information, tours, car rentals…etc).

The company hopes to achieve its lofty goal by offering visitors and members a website that has a fresh look and the latest in design features. The site aims to be easy to navigate, and it will be free to use.

To help spur growth, Airline.com will be using Native Rank for its SEO and website optimization. In speaking with someone from the company, they are expecting to receive a considerable return on this investment, and it’s something people should keep an eye on as the website’s search engine rankings improve.

Airline.com has a tentative launch date of April 8, although that may be pushed back.
