$200 Contest: Guess the Order of My NameJet Sales

Earlier this week, I shared a small list of domain names I am auctioning at NameJet. Some are nearing the backorder deadline and others will be coming up to the deadline within the next few days. Here’s a contest to see if anyone can guess the correct value order of the auctions from highest to lowest. Assuming someone correctly guesses the order, that person will receive a $200 Paypal payment from me.

To clarify this a bit, I want you to post a list of the seven domain names in numeric order with your guess of what will achieve the highest sale price to lowest sale price. You don’t need to guess the prices, but just the order in terms of highest sale price to lowest sale price. If you are able to correctly guess the order based on the final sales prices, you’ll win $200 via Paypal. If more than one person correctly guesses the order from highest to lowest, the person who posted the order first will win the $200. If nobody guesses the correct value order, nobody will win.

Listed below, are the names as a reminder, along with a link to the respective auction. You can see that one domain name already has an $800 bid. Submission deadline is Tuesday, April 2 at 2pm. One guess per person or your submissions will not count.

I am not interested in having a discussion about the value of the names, so comments that aren’t listing the order guess will probably be deleted.

Of course now you realize if someome has all of these backordered and is close to correct they can manipulate the end results slightly and bid a little here and there to get the desired end result $200.

It is also a clever contest because you will get a lot of backorders for people that want to watch these and those backorders will pump the domains up on the sort order at NJ.

  Bids are legally binding. I think it would be a pretty big risk to get $200 from me.
  
  If someone wins all seven auctions and then doesn’t pay, they are automatically disqualified and nobody will win. 🙂

  I was more refering to if someone was close to winning. Like if they had the 4th and 5th position reversed. Then just need to bid up the 5th to be above the 4th slightly.
  
  Then imagine that there are 10 different people that are “close” like this and all do little things as the answers reveal themselves (as auctions close). This could be interesting.
  
  Yea it would be silly to try an win them all in force the right order for the whole thing. If someone does that you should give them the $200 they will need it.

    I think that’s your opinion, and there isn’t any other disagreement here from others. I think people realize that in exchange for receiving tips /advice and learning about news on a daily basis at no cost, they will occasionally see a sale post or personal promotion for my business. If I couldn’t sell domain names on my blog or use it as a platform for my business a bit, I wouldn’t be willing to spend my time blogging. You don’t work for free I suspect, and neither do I.
    
    I agree these domain names aren’t “amazing” like Pets.com, but I would say dollars to donuts the sale generates $14k in revenue and will yield a decent profit margin.
    
    I spend quite a bit of time at NameJet, and I know that the more exposure these names get, the more they will likely achieve in terms of sales prices. I believe the $500 spend in promotions will yield a nice ROI, and hopefully someone will win $200 from me (incidentally, I’ve given out hundreds of dollars of my own money in the last 12 months to people reading my blog, and I don’t see anyone else doing the same).
    
    I’m not promoting shit names here and praying they sell. These are above average keyword names and will do well. As a comparison, I sold TacomaRealEstate.com on NameJet for over $9,000 a few months ago. Tacoma has a population of 200k residents vs. Port St. Lucie with 166k residents. They’re different markets and PSL is more difficult to spell, but I think it will do okay, and the more exposure the name gets, the better.
    
    At the end of the day, I’ll probably do better than I would have without the additional promotion, and I’ll have upset one person. It’s a fair tradeoff.
    
    Sorry that you were annoyed with the post, but it’s par for the course.
