Licensing IP International S.A.R.L., the parent company of You Porn, filed several UDRPs at the National Arbitration Forum. YouPorn is a popular adult video website and one of the 500 most visited websites in the world, according to Alexa. One of the UDRP filings is for multiple domain names and it looks like the others are each for a single domain name.
While I think almost all of the domain names are obvious typos, at least one seems like it could be winnable for the registrant. The domain names that are included in the UDRP filings include:
- YoPorn.com
- YouPor.com
- YouPorm.com
- YouPorb.com
- YouPoen.com
The YoPorn.com UDRP could be an interesting case to follow (case #1886919). According to Whois Records at DomainTools, that domain name was created in 2003. YouPorn.com has a creation year of 2005, so YoPorn.com was actually created before the YouPorn.com domain name. Obviously, there are other factors at play, particularly if the domain name has changed hands and how it is being used, but like many UDRP filings, this one might not be cut and dry.
I discovered the UDRP filings via UDRPSearch.com. Because the filings were made at the NAF, the complainant is not listed until the decisions are rendered. As a result, it makes it difficult to search for the complainant by company name to see if I missed any of the ongoing UDRP filings.
A search of the Licensing IP International company name at UDRPSearch.com shows that the company has filed at least 35 UDRPs. Most of these other UDRPs have already been decided and are related to its other brands, including PornHub, RedTube, Escorts and Brazzers, among others. The company has prevailed or agreed to a termination in almost all of the UDRP filings I saw listed on UDRPSearch.com.
In addition to the NAF filings, there is also an ongoing UDRP that was filed at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the exact match YouPorn.AI domain name. From the looks of it, that is the only .AI ccTLD UDRP filing at WIPO so far this year.
From what I can tell, it looks like there have been six UDRP filings involving You Porn related domain names in the last week or so. I will keep a close eye on this.
Update: The YoPorn.com UDRP was decided in favor of the complainant. The registrant did not respond to the UDRP.
