Will Google Change Be a Nail in the Parking Coffin?

Jen Sale of Evergreen.com posted an email Google sent to its Google Ads advertisers. It looks like Google Ads will automatically opting-out new advertisers from advertising on parked domain names:

Domain name parking revenue has been on the decline for quite some time. I have never earned much revenue from PPC advertising on my domain names, but I know quite a few people who made a living from parking back in the day.

This change from Google will eliminate many advertisers from advertising on parked domain names. I imagine this will have a negative impact on parking revenues since nearly all rely on a Google feed as their primary revenue source.

Domain name parking has been dying a very slow death for at least 10-15 years. This change could be another nail in the coffin for people who earn income by parking their domain names.

Content Suitability Changes for Parked Domains in Google Ads

Dear Advertiser,

We’re making an important update to how Content Suitability works for Parked Domains in Google Ads.

Starting in October, new Google Ads accounts will be automatically opted out of serving ads on Parked Domains. This means your Search and PMax campaigns in new accounts won’t appear on Parked Domains by default.

If you’d like your ads to appear on Parked Domains, simply navigate to the Content Suitability settings within your new account and opt in.

Sincerely,

The Google Ads Team

  1. There are still many tricks to make money from your domains…
I have never ever depend on Google or any companies or people.
As a matter of fact, I make sure they depend on me….aka the consumers’ wallets

  2. Well, I say “good”.

Verisign charges/raises prices far too much.
Too many ridiculous alleged “premium” domains registered. (They are mostly garbage, not premium. Worthless except for extortion prices which are mostly never achieved.)
Google gets lotsa $ from parking but pay out nothing or near nothing.
    Silly registrants drop domains.
    Verisign loses.
    Google loses.
People save $$ not registering/renewing garbage.
    I’d say that’s a huge win.
