Video: How Anime.com was Acquired

I heard the Anime.com domain name had been recently acquired, but I knew nothing about it. Anime is a a style of Japanese animation, and it is popular throughout the world. Obviously, Anime.com would be a fantastic brand for creators and people who enjoy watching this genre of animation.

I came across a video interview conducted by Leon Abboud featuring Alex Xu, the founder of the company that acquired Anime.com. The interview is a bit longer than 40 minutes, and it touches on the acquisition of the Anime.com domain name. Not surprisingly, the domain name had a $10 million price tag, and it was listed for sale via GoDaddy.

You can watch the full interview if you would like, or you can jump right in around 26 minutes into the interview to see how the acquisition was made:

  1. Animé is the word in some languages (French, Portuguese, etc.), where people naturally type that familiar form. Azuki says many times: “We’re serious about this” — they should buy animé.com
