According to a post on Team Internet’s corporate LinkedIn page, the company has been awarded the contract to operate the .CO ccTLD registry in partnership with another company called Central Comercializadora de Internet (CCI). These two companies formed a company called Consórcio Equipo PuntoCo, which will operate the .CO domain extension on behalf of the government of Colombia and its Ministry of Technology.
This news was also announced in a press release on the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (MinTIC) website.
Earlier this year, CircleID reported that “Colombian’s Ministry of ICT (MinTIC), and ccTLD Manager for the .CO ccTLD, recently announced an expedited timeline for the Request for Proposal (RFP) to operate over 3 million .CO domains for the next 10 years.”
.CO Internet S.A.S. has operated the .CO extension since 2010. In 2014, Andrew Allemann reported that Neustar acquired CO Internet S.A.S. and associated assets for a reported $109 million. In 2020, GoDaddy acquired Neustar’s registry management business, and the company launched its GoDaddy Registry business. GoDaddy has continued to operate the .CO registry.
