Taxes.com Sold for $250k by Sedo’s Derick Clegg

It looks like Sedo is off to a running start in 2019. According to a retweet from Sedo, Taxes.com was sold for $250,000 in a deal that was brokered by Sedo’s Derick Clegg:

I reached out to a representative from Sedo to ask when the domain name was sold, and the company confirmed that this sale will be reported in 2019.

While a $250,000 sale may seem solid, a search of NameBio shows that Taxes.com sold for $750,000 in 2000. I also looked through my email records, and it looks like the domain name was listed for sale via broker or auction at least a couple of times throughout the years. I am unsure if the domain name was sold at any point between the 2000 sale and this most recent sale.

The domain name is currently in Sedo’s escrow account, so the buyer of the domain name is not yet known. Once the deal is finalized, Sedo will report it to DNJournal and NameBio where it will probably sit atop the 2019 sale list for the time being.

  1. Yes this name is worth much more. scary especially with such a reduction in price. But many people have to liquidate due to emergencies.

  2. Ouch! Someone took a 500,000USD loss on this one, actually more as I am sure the broker took at least 10% of the deal.
According to Archive.org the domain Taxes.com was mostly parked with PPC ads since it last traded in 2000.
I don’t understand why would anyone spend 750K and just park the name for 18+ years and hope things work out????
Maybe Steve is right and the owner had to liquidate due to an emergency….who knows.

Another amazing name sold for cheap…probably Intuit scooped it up. πŸ™‚
