DomainInvesting.com Rebranding Series: Creating a Logo

31

Shortly after purchasing DomainInvesting.com, I made a list of people that would be instrumental in the rebranding of my blog that I needed to call and email. Theo Develegas of Acroplex was on that short list. I worked with Theo before on a couple of design projects, and I knew I wanted him to work on this rebrandng.

There were three reasons why I chose Theo for this project without bidding it out to other designers. First and foremost, I like his work and found his creative designs to be affordable. Secondly, Theo knows the domain investing space and knows exactly who the target audience is. He has worked on non-domain industry projects before, but I appreciated the fact that he knows who will be reading. Finally, I knew Theo would be able to manage the project in a timely manner and he would do it confidentially.

When I first engaged Theo on the project, (more…) → Read More

Domain Development: an Interactive Discussion with Theo Develegas

8

During the past several months, I've had several conversations with Theo Develegas, and I always get new ideas after listening to him and understanding his perspective on things.

When it comes to web development and graphic design, Theo is certainly one of the more  knowledgeable  domain investors out there, and he is a very good resource. He has done design work for me on three projects, and I was very pleased with the results. He's also been helpful to me when I've need some feedback and assistance.

Theo and I had a discussion about domain names and web development and created a two-part series, one of which is here and the other on his blog. Feel free to ask any questions.

Do you think it's possible to scale something like this to a large number of domain names and have it pay off, or would the time → Read More

Bahamas.CO is Launched

32

As I had hoped, version 1.0 of Bahamas.CO has launched, with a few days to spare. The website was built on Wordpress, and I opted to use a heavily modified template due to time constraints (I needed to have the site launched by August 20th) as part of the .CO Registry's Founders Program.

The template modification was completed by my web designer Mike McAlister of Six One Five Design, who has done the majority of my design work for the last three years. Usually he builds my sites from scratch, but he knew I was under the proverbial gun on this project, and he jumped in to make the necessary template modifications. For those that are curious, I used the Los Angeles template available on ThemeForest.net (affiliate link) for $32 out of the box.

I also previously mentioned that the logo was designed as part of a contest on 99Designs.com, and ironically the winner of the contest was Theo Develegas of Acroplex. Not only was it my favorite logo, it was also voted as the favorite by you guys, which is always a good thing to see.
