Supernatural.com Reportedly Sold for $215,888

According to an email from Above.com's Steve Baik, his company brokered the sale of Supernatural.com for $215,888. Simon Saleem brokered the domain name on behalf of the seller. The buyer appears to have been represented by CSC, and the domain name Whois registration is currently protected by CSC. As such, the buyer of the domain name is unknown for now. The domain name does not yet resolve.

I did not personally verify the sale, but I would imagine it will be reported to DNJournal and Ron Jackson will verify the sale price.

Once Ron verifies the sale and includes it in his weekly public domain name sales report, it will (more…) → Read More

Above.com Holding Radix Auction With a Twist

Victor Pitts from Above.com shared some information about an auction the company is running with new gTLD domain names from Radix. Opening bids start at $200 and go up to $1,000. The auction features .Website, .Host, and .Press domain names.

One interesting aspect of this auction is that there is a buy it now option on all of the auctions. For people who don't want to risk losing an auction, they can click the buy it now button to pay a higher price but avoid an auction. Buy it now prices run from $750 up to $3,000. I am unsure if a bid placed on an auction eliminates the buy it now option, but I would presume that to be the case.

Here's some information Victor shared with me about the domain names that are included in the auction: (more…) → Read More

This morning, I learned that there will be an online component to the domain auction that is being held at the TRAFFIC conference in two weeks in Ft. Lauderdale.

Victor Pitts from Above.com sent me a note today to let me know that his company will be sponsoring the TRAFFIC conference silent domain auction. It's not a traditional "sponsorship" though. Above.com is hosting the silent auction on its Domain Marketplace platform.

Auction lots are currently (more…) → Read More

Above.com to Offer 60% Profit Share on Expired Domain Auctions

I want to share some news I received this morning from Victor Pitts of Above.com. The company is set to announce that participants in the soon to launch  Expiring Domain Sales Program will "retain 60% of the profit from the sale of any domains that they let expire at Above," which are auctioned on the Above Marketplace.

Prior to the launch of this new program, customers didn't receive anything from the sale of domain names they owned that expired, much like most other domain registrars. This presents a new revenue opportunity for clients, and it may give incentive to dropping names instead of renewing them.

According to Victor, about 10,000 domain names are (more…) → Read More
