Macro.com Was Acquired for $600k in 2022

In 2023, I noticed a company called Macro had announced a big funding round, and it was using Macro.com for its website. Its brand matching domain name caught my attention, and I learned the company had rebranded after being founded under the Coparse brand:

Last night on LinkedIn, Macro CEO Jacob Beckerman shared some background about the domain name acquisition, including the purchase price.

Macro acquired Macro.com for $600,000 in 2022, which seems like a great deal for the buyer. The domain name was acquired with the help of Lumis, and Beckerman specifically mentioned Keith Richter and Shea Winpigler in the comments. At the time of the acquisition, the company had only raised $2 million, so this $600,000 acquisition was a huge chunk of what it had raised.

In his post, Beckerman referenced Waseem Daher’s comments about paying $400,000 to buy Pilot.com.

I was able to embed Beckerman’s LinkedIn post sharingg why the company spent $600k to buy Macro.com:

With the sale price now publicly revealed, I have added it to the list of recent one word .com domain name sales. Once Ron Jackson sees this and adds Macro.com to his list of 2022 domain name sales, it will rank as the 13th largest sale of the year in a tie with Yachts.com.

Thanks to Tim Hargis for sharing this with me.
