The application period for the second round of new gTLD extensions was just opened by ICANN. This will allow businesses, organizations, communities, governments, and others the opportunity to apply to operate their own domain name extension. This is the first new gTLD application round in more than ten years. ICANN is accepting applications until August 12th.
ICANN is holding a webinar to help applicants better understand the application process and how to use ICANN’s TLD Application Management System. The free to attend webinar will be held by ICANN (via Zoom) on May 12th at 12pm EDT. You can read more about the webinar and get the sign-up link on ICANN’s website.
Prior to the webinar, ICANN is inviting people to submit questions online in advance. This will give ICANN some time to prepare answers that participants have and allow people to share their questions in advance.
If you’re in the process of putting an application together or thinking about applying for a new domain extension, this is a good opportunity to ask questions and get answers from ICANN.
