This is a guest post from Jodi Chamberlain, who is helping to organize the Domaining Spain domain conference coming up in April. Ordinarily, I would likely be attending the conference, but I am expecting to become a parent a few weeks earlier, so it’s not in the cards.
This is the 4th annual Domaining Spain conference, located in Valencia. This event brings together 120-150 guests from all around the world.
From April 26th – 28th domainers will gather at, Hotel Sercotel Sorolla Palace to discuss the gTLD’s, ccTLD’s and domain markets.
This is an important event for both the American and European entrepreneurs, it’s an opportunity to build international networks and meet the top leaders in the industry. Some of the Domaining Spain speakers for 2012; Kathy Neilson, Paul Keating, Sergey Gorbunov, Braden Pollock and many, many more!
Industry leaders will speak about domain sales, development, parking, business risks, and discuss the next 5 years within the industry.
Highlights for the event; Sessions, keynote (To be announced soon), awards, networking and let’s not forget Spain’s infamous Paella!!
The 3 day pass will cover all sessions, food and networking activities. Show tickets are on sale now for just 300euro until 1/15 on the conference website.
Produced by Dietmar Stefitz and Jodi Chamberlain
In the last year I’ve been reading how poor Spain’s economy is right now, high unemployment, etc. How does this figure into web/internet marketing in Spain?
Good luck !
I doubt i can attend (even though it is pretty just around the corner for me).
Is there a speaker from NIC ES ?
.ES could do alot better if they shape up and make it easier for ownership transfers.
And that zonefile needs tobe realtime.
This must explain the crazy hotel rates we have for the guests, just 75euros a night.
Normal rates without the group code is 260euro a night.
Big time savings!!
Valencia is the home of Dietmar Stefitz, show founder/producer. This year’s event isn’t specifically around .es or Spain. It’s a combination of broad topics touched upon by industry leaders in all countries. Spain is only a part of the equation.
Each week the speaker list will be updated, so you’ll want to keep an eye on this list to find out who has become available to speak at the event. We’ve been in contact with many leaders who have still to get back to us with their schedules. Updates come in daily.
Hope to see many of you at Domainfest this month and also this April in Spain.
David and I spoke there last year and it was a great conference with great people. Dietmar Stefitz is a class act and so is jodi Chamberlain. It was one of my top three travel events. If you have the time and money make the trip. It is well worth it.
Yes this spanish event is a must for those who can attend.
See here some fotos of the previous event.

See you in Valencia 😉
Already booked my place. I’m anxious to see and know the opinions of these great people, who had the vision to get the best domains in the time that nobody realized what was anticipated. My area of research is geodomain, and I finally get to hear two people I greatly admire the work done so far … all the best for all

Do you have to be a resident to register
A domain extension from Spain
@Babak
No, you don’t have to be a resident. .ES is an unrestricted ccTLD.
I tried to register a .es domain name,
But it is asking me for a phone number
From Spain, can I bypass this.
Email / Call the domain registrar for assistance. I haven’t registered .es domains, but I know there is no restriction as outlined on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.es
