DNForum Offering 50% Discount

I want to let you know that DNForum is offering a membership discount from now until August 1, 2013. If you sign up for a new account or you upgrade to a higher account status, you can save 50% off the regular price for the next week or so.

There are three membership levels at DNF: Gold, Platinum, and Exclusive. I am a Platinum lifetime member.

The different membership levels offer the ability to post in different upgraded sections on the forum. For instance, Gold members are able to browse sales threads and purchase domain names from them, but they are not able to list domain names for sale. Exclusive members are able to see private sections of DN Forum and they can post domain names for sale in an Exclusive section.

As of the time of this post, there are a total of 241,416 members of DNForum. There are also nearly 4,000 members who are actively visiting DN Forum right now.

If you have an interest in upgrading at the discounted price, or if you have any questions, send an email to chuck@dnforum.com.

Here’s the membership pricing / cost breakdown (provided by Chuck):

Registered Members- normal upgrade charge:

  • to Gold level $39.95 but with discount now just $19.95
  • to Platinum level $89.95 but with discount now just $44.95
  • to Exclusive level $399.95 but with discount now just $199.95

Gold Members – normal upgrade charge:

  • to Platinum level $59.95 but with discount now just $29.95
  • to Exclusive level $379.95 but with discount now just $189.95

Platinum Members – normal upgrade charge:

  • to Exclusive level $339.95 but with discount now just $169.95

Again, all are Lifetime memberships no other charges will apply!

  1. DNForum is no longer relevant enough for members to be paying a price for admission.

It used to be that they were one of the few birds in the game but now there are so many other free domaining communities online. Why waste your money?

  2. How can anyone justify a $400 price to join a forum in today’s world? Correct me if I’m wrong, but DNF is basically all user generated content, so they are asking you to pay $400 in order to generate content for them. Great business model.

  3. They do this every year, to drum up some revenue, over a year ago, they got all these free memeberships, and there was a lot of scams, and fraud, along with crap domains being offered on dnf for a while.

It is not a sellers marketplace that is for sure, you will not even get close to reseller pricing over there if you are a seller.

Plus the mods are total AHOLES!

  4. A good product sells itself.

A bad product needs “marketing” to con the good people to fork over their hard earned dollars.

    You do the math(tm).

    • There are literally hundreds of forums and other means whereby domainers can push their wares. For free. With excellent results. No lie.

How 1990. How quaint. To have to PAY to join a forum. Kinda like driving the Oldsmobile to the local five-n-dime to get your 20cents/gallon for gas.

      Reality is a mad mofo.

  5. UMMM ! I can understand sales on many things and consumer items that need to be moved or expiring. A sale on a membership site doesn’t sit well with me unless there is some reason that being a member of DN Forum is not as valuable as when I was convinced to sign up. Makes me think I over paid. I had been thinking about upgrading my membership and the sales copy had done its job. As sales copy so often is, it is a load of crap the value is overstated of membership. A the old saying goes “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.”
I’m glad this sale happened before I upgraded my membership. I will not spend a cent now and feel buyers remorse for falling for it in the first place.

Believe it or not, I am a “domaining community” advocate. I will speak truth to hype anyday.

The “product” that is being peddled here is not worth the paper the ink is printed on.

As I always say, buyer beware, and doubly so in this case. If it doesn’t pass the smell test, don’t be taking no bite. There be a Denmark here young Hamlet.

In my opinion, the community there is TAINTED. It is littered with over zealous, heavy handed moderators and bottom feeding members. Most domainers worth half their name have moved on to other avenues or started their own blogs/website.

What you are left with is a cesspool that they want you to pay the pleasure of $400 for to use.

As always, these are just my opinion. Feel and behave as you wish. But don’t say I didn’t warned ya.

  6. What is point of this post? Is this a “sponsored” post because 50% off nonsense prices is not newsworthy and this seems more of a peddle then anything.

    • This isn’t the Wall St. Journal. It’s my blog. If you don’t think it’s interesting, you can skip the article.

Something I’ve learned is I am never going to please everyone. Even when I offer advice or share something useful, there are people who are critical about me not sharing enough or having ulterior motives for sharing. It comes with the territory.

One final note is that I wasn’t asked to post this and there was no payment or deal for me to write this. DNF advertises on my blog whether I write anything about it or not.

    • “One final note is that I wasn’t asked to post this and there was no payment or deal for me to write this”

I wrote something about marijuana and was not “Paid” but a couple large packages of Ben F came thru my door and on my birthday a slew of porn stars came out from the cake.

      I wonder who sent them!!!

  7. Typical domainer mentality (speaking of myself), I upgraded in 2010 to platinum lifetime membership when they had that 50% discount promotion running then.

I haven’t posted much there but do buy from DNF from time to time.

Most of my time spent on domain/webdev forums are in their BST (buy/sell/trade) sections.

  8. DNF is a great forum and I upgraded to Gold level a couple of years ago (maybe December 2011?) during a promotion. However I don’t think I’ll be upgrading my account, the Gold level is enough for me.

  9. What good is 50% off when you have more than a 60% chance of your membership being degraded or banned all together?

Recently I witnessed a long time DNF member have his LIFETIME membership revoked by Adam just because he posted a simple stat about the number of active members compared to subscribers, Post deleted, membership cancelled, avatar removed, so much for his “lifetime” membership. He didn’t deserve it, and this was a guy who purchased over 15K in domains from me.

DNF has sadly become the most censored and intolerant forum in domaining, and they will use your paid membersip as leverage to control what you post, In the domain gang sub forum, I remember posting a valid question and shortly after my post was deleted, followed by a ban threat by Acro in my inbox, Are you kidding me? Apparently Adam gave that moron ban privileges, one more thing to consider before signing up.

This 50% promo is merely a band-aid to a much bigger problem, member participation is at a record low on DNF and Adam is in panic mode, and attacking bloggers like he did didn’t help his cause, but no matter how much money Adam throws on promos and advertising, its merely a band-aid to a much bigger problem.

Charging a fee is a great gimmick though, where buyers think their getting more but in reality they don’t, What they paid and got on DNF is not that different than what they got for FREE on domain forums like NP, which is a great forum BTW.

Save your money folks, Paid forums are a dying breed, and its only a matter of time before DNF does away with paid memberships all together in a effort to boost participation.

  10. Adam hasn’t come through on the June upgrade and now he’s pushing a 50% promo?

This Forum is crying out for NEW management, What it needs is a complete overhaul and all Adam can come up with is BUYING members with promos and new templates… LMAO.

DNF is falling into the Abyss and this is one member who isn’t going to dive in to help save it, What comes around goes around. 🙂

  11. @ EM,

As a member of DNF for over 6 years I can honestly tell you that your not missing anything, believe me when I say that.

Save your money, NamePros.com has all you need and its 100% FREE.. And members are a lot cooler too. 🙂
