Sunday Thoughts and Updates

Thanks to everyone who visits this blog. I am especially appreciative of those of you who share opinions in the comment section. As I mentioned to someone earlier, I don’t really censor comments unless I absolutely need to remove them. I ask that people are respectful, and the vast majority of comments are respectful and most are insightful. I appreciate it and I know others do, too.

As I typically do on Sunday, I want to share some thoughts and updates with you:

Happy Easter and Passover to those of you celebrating one of these holidays. To those who aren’t, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. The snow here in Massachusetts is finally melting, the Red Sox season opener is coming up, and I’ve been busy with our 3 year old (can you believe she is 3 already?!) and our two month old.

Here are some thoughts and updates for the weekend. You’re welcome to share your own thoughts and updates in the comment section.

Sunday Thoughts and Updates – 3/22

Although I am not a huge basketball fan, I’ve been watching quite a bit of this year’s NCAA tournament. I don’t have any money on the line, but it’s still fun to watch the games.

Here are quite a few domain name business updates, a few thoughts, and a tip for you. Enjoy your Sunday!

In a blog post published yesterday, Donuts reported some good news yesterday regarding the first wave of renewals (greater than a 90% renewal rate on the first group of 4,500+ names). This number is more than I would have expected, and it must come as good news to other registries as well. Hopefully Donuts will continue to report the renewal numbers as stated in the blog post, even if the number falls.

Daniel Negari and the .XYZ Registry received some good press from the NBC Bay Area affiliate station. In discussing the success of the company and .XYZ domain names, the article mentioned that “Negari said he made his investment back in the first month of business.”

One month away until opening day for the Red Sox, and I am getting excited. The Sox look strong this year, and if their pitchers are durable, I think they will have a good  season. I am still hopeful that they will get a #1 starter since their rotation seems to be made up of a bunch of #3s.

Speaking of the Red Sox, I am thinking about organizing another Fenway Park meetup this Summer, so if that is something that is of interest to you, let me know.

I am in the process of making this site more mobile friendly. I personally don’t mind the way it looks on my iPhone but apparently it’s not compliant enough for Google. I suppose that is the kick in the butt needed to improve the mobile experience.

Chicago Business Journal reported that Donuts “will begin to heavily promote what it’s billing as the Internet’s next phase — the so-called ‘not com’ era — via a new ad campaign titled ‘Freedom of Choice.‘” I am looking forward to

Sunday Thoughts and Updates – 3/8

I’ve received quite a few emails with domain names for sale, and I appreciate those who sent good domain names for my review. I am still buying names in private and at auction, and if you have an exceptional one word .com or three letter .com domain name at a competitive price, send it my way.

It’s been a busy day, but I wanted to share some thoughts and updates with you:

Now that we have a baby and an almost three year old, there aren’t really anymore lazy Sundays for me anymore. I can’t say that I miss those days all that much, but I wouldn’t mind sleeping in once in a while 🙂

Here are some thoughts, updates, and news for the weekend. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and/or news if you’d like to share.
