Sunday Updates & Tips

16

With the long weekend for Memorial Day in the United States, and the TRAFFIC conference on its heels, you might see a lag in response time from domain investors and companies. If you are traveling this weekend or for the conference, I wish you safe travels.

Here are some updates and tips:

  • Some of the deals from the charity auction have already closed, and most others are pending payment. If you’re a buyer or seller and have questions, contact me and I’ll get you an answer.
  • People often ask me if I am buying names. I am always buying great names. Here are a few recent acquisitions from the past week or so:

We’re in the middle of a nice weekend, and hope you’re enjoying your weekend as well. We bought a bbq grill a few weeks ago, and it seems like we’ve been grilling most weekends. It’s one of the perks of living in the suburbs.

Here are some news bits, updates, and a domain tip or two:

Sunday Updates

April has been a fairly slow month for me in terms of sales. The first quarter was great, but April hasn’t been so good. I spent quite a bit of time and energy working out a deal that didn’t go through, so it’s been a bit of a scramble the last few days to close some deals to meet my projections.

  • I had agreed to a fairly large sale (close to 6 figures) and had even signed the agreement that was approved by the buyer. Unfortunately, the buyer tried to change terms at the last minute, and the deal didn’t go through. Goes to show that no deal is done until the money is in the bank, and you can’t always count on deals that are “approved.”
  • In addition to working on some deals last week, I re-launched EventPlanner.com. Tia Wood is working on a few outstanding issues with respect to search functionality, but I think the color scheme and graphics look pretty slick. If you have a moment, would you check it out and let me know if you see something funky?
  • If you live in the greater Boston area, would you have an interest in coming to a Boston domain investor meetup? I posted an article about it yesterday and would like your feedback. So far, feedback has been good.
  • I bought HolocaustHistory.com at NameJet last week. There were a bunch of bidders on it, and I wanted to make sure it didn’t go into the wrong hands. I am looking for a good organization to donate it to if you have any suggestions.
  • My trip to Las Vegas for TRAFFIC has been fully booked. It’s the first conference I’ve been able to attend in a year and a half. It will be nice to get away for a bit. If you want to meet up out there, let me know and we can coordinate.

What a crazy week it’s been around here. I am very thankful that the events in Boston seem to have ended relatively quickly. It’s been pretty surreal around here this past week. Hopefully, you’re having a good April.

Here are some weekly updates and a couple of tips for you:

Saturday Updates – Daylight Savings

We got walloped with snow yesterday, and I am sore from shoveling it from the steps and walkway. It’s one of the first times I was able to shovel in about ten years. Anyway, I always seem to forget about Daylight Savings Time, so I figured I’d give you a reminder.

Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday at 2am, so don’t forget to move your clocks forward an hour before you goto bed tonight.

Here are some weekly updates and tips for you:

  • I  wasn’t inclined to sell KJP.com, but I closed a deal on the domain name this week. The company that bought it

I haven’t done a Sunday Updates post in a while, so it’s about time for another one. I feel badly for some of the Webfest attendees who either had to leave early or are “stuck” in Santa Monica because of the snow. I am headed back home today from Canada and am hoping our snow plow guy cleared our driveway because we received about 2 feet of snow. I love the snow, but I think two feet is a bit excessive.
