Results from Sedo’s 4L .com Auction

Sedo hosted a 4 letter .com domain name auction this past week, and the auction concluded this afternoon. In total, 150 4L .com domain names were sold in the auction, and the results of the auction have been posted below. It looks like around $30,000 USD worth of sales transacted, but the figure is difficult to calculate since there are multiple currencies. The currency for most of the sales is EUR.

The auction concluded today, so I doubt any of these sales closed yet. Sedo will report the sales to DNJournal and NameBio once the domain names are purchased and are transferred to the new buyers.

Sedo sent out an email to customers overnight letting them know about a change to its policy to enhance account security. Whenever a customer calls in to Sedo’s customer service phone number, they will be required to provide a personal communication PIN number to authenticate their account and verify that they are the account holder. The PIN number is also required when communicating with Sedo via an email address not associated with a particular customer account.

You can find your customer communication PIN number in the dashboard of your “My Sedo” area. Here’s an example of where to find this PIN number:

Sedo’s monthly auction ended today, and OA.com sold for €554,000. The auction sale price was reported by Sedo broker Frank Tillmanns in a tweet this afternoon:

IGTV.com Acquired by Instagram

1

In my DomainTools Registrant Monitor alert email this morning, I saw that IGTV.com has been acquired by Instagram. The domain name was appears to have been previously registered to an entity in California, and it had been parked using Sedo’s nameservers. Instagram is often referred to as “IG,” so the domain name acquisition makes sense. As of the time of publication, IGTV.com does not resolve to an operational website.

BettingTips.com Sold via Sedo for $150,000

Sedo hit the proverbial jackpot this week with the $150,000 sale of BettingTips.com. The sale was reported to me this afternoon in Sedo’s weekly public domain name sales report, and NameBio tweeted about the sale when it hit the Sedo RSS feed earlier this morning:
