Sedo Reports $100k Sale of Autism.Rocks

Sedo reported its weekly domain name sales that were closed via its marketplace, and the company reported the sale of Autism.Rocks for $100,000. This sale was the largest publicly reported sale of the week at Sedo, regardless of the extension.

The domain name was originally registered in August of 2014 by someone based in Florida. After the sale appears to have been completed, the domain name Whois record is currently showing a registrant based in Dubai.

I am not 100% sure, but it appears that the buyer of

Sedo Removes Listings No Longer Owned By Seller

0

One frustration people face in the domain investment space is buying domain names on various marketplaces that are no longer owned by the seller. It is annoying when it happens, especially if payment is submitted immediately on a buy it now listing and the seller does not respond while the marketplace attempts to finalize the deal.

Based on an email I received from Sedo this morning, it looks like they do have protocols in place to remove listings no longer owned by the seller. The domain name that is the subject of the email is one that I must have bid on quite some time ago (I can’t even find a record of it). I have not inquired about the domain name recently, and I didn’t do anything that would have caused this email.

It is good to see that Sedo does remove listings that are no longer valid. I am unsure of how regularly invalid listings are removed, and I am unsure of what prompted this email today. It is frustrating to deal with a situation where a seller doesn’t own a domain name anymore but the listing had not been removed, and I am glad to see that Sedo is doing something about it.

Here’s the email I received with the domain name redacted.

Boston Domain Investing Meet Up on July 15

I am organizing a Boston domain investor meetup on July 15th at Bill’s Bar in Boston, and it is open to people in the domain investment space who want to get together to talk about domain investing. The meet up will be held from 5-8pm.

Sedo is generously sponsoring an open bar for the event, which will also serve as a fundraiser for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute via my Pan-Mass Challenge fundraiser. Bill’s Bar is generously providing the space for the meet up and will also be providing light appetizers for us at no cost since this is a fundraiser for Dana-Farber.

Bill’s Bar is located right behind Fenway Park at 5 Lansdowne St. It’s my goto place for dinner before Red Sox games, and it’s a perfect spot to host a get together.

I am asking people to make a $25 donation to my Pan-Mass Challenge fundraiser prior to attending. At the last Boston meet up a couple of years ago, there were about 50 people who attended. It would be great if 50+ people came and helped raise over $1,000 for Dana-Farber. People who have already made a donation are invited without having to make another donation.

Please RSVP to me via email so I can get an accurate headcount.

Thank you to Sedo, to Bill’s Bar, and to those who attend. Looking forward to seeing you there.

May 2015 Great Domains Auction Results

The Great Domains auction for the month of May ended on Sedo today, and the results are published below. The largest sale of the month was the three letter NKB.com domain name, which sold for $31,000 after some active bidding. The second highest sale of the month was Stock.co.uk, which sold for 4,102 EUR.

Quite a few three letter .net domain names sold at auction. The sale prices ranged from $460 – $1,211. It’s interesting to see the 3 letter .com domain name market jump while the .net market doesn’t seem to have much of an increase in interest (based on my limited observations).

This domain auction ended today, so these deals are most likely still pending. Once they are finalized, they will be reported in Sedo’s monthly sales report.

Pax.com Sold for $200k at Sedo

According to a tweet posted a few moments ago, Sedo domain broker Dave Evanson brokered the sale of Pax.com for $200,000.

Current Whois record shows Sedo’s escrow service as the registrant of Pax.com. Prior to this account change, the domain name had been registered under privacy since 2006. At that time, the domain name had been owned by a California company, although I am not sure if the domain name had changed hands anytime from 2006 until the date of the sale.

Because the domain name is in

Sedo Great Domains April Auction Results

The Great Domains monthly auction for April concluded today, and the sales results are below. In total, eight domain names were sold in this auction. Veilingen.nl was the largest sale at 31000 EUR (approximately $33,575 USD). I believe Veilingen means something related to auctions in Dutch.

There were four 3 letter domain names sold in this auction. Two of those sales were .com domain names. Interestingly, only two of the ten total sales were .com domain names. Four of the sales were ccTLD domain names.

The full list of sold domain names was published below. Keep in mind that this auction concluded today, and it is likely that the buyers have not completed their purchases yet. As such, these deals should be considered pending until Sedo officially reports the domain names as sold.
