SOG.com Subject of UDRP (Updated)

5

A UDRP was filed against the valuable three letter .com domain name, SOG.com. The UDRP was filed at the National Arbitration Forum (NAF), and it is listed as case #1726464. I will be following this UDRP via UDRPSearch.com.

SOG.com is owned by a company called Poise Media Inc. that appears to be based in New York. Using DomainTools’ Historical Whois Tool, I was able to see that the registrant appears to be the same since February of 2007, meaning that it has been owned for over ten years. SOG.com  was created in April of 1996, so this domain name is over 20 years old.

SOG.com is currently monetized  with pay per click advertisements using Sedo. The domain name is also listed for sale on Sedo where it has a $40,000 minimum offer requirement. I am not sure how long the domain name has been listed for sale. SOG.com is clearly valuable, with Estibot pegging its value at $370,000. I do not see any public sales record for this domain name on NameBio.

The NAF does not reveal the name of the complainant until the UDRP decision is published, so I do not know who filed the UDRP. The most

Is DWN.com Sale the Deal of the Year?

6

SedoI received Sedo’s weekly domain name sales report, and I am somewhat stunned to see a valuable LLL.com domain name sell for  just 2,999 EUR. According to the weekly Sedo report, DWN.com sold this past week via Sedo for 2,999 EUR. This is roughly $3,243 USD. I  am not sure if the seller listed it for sale on the marketplace and it was bought  immediately or if the buyer and seller reached a deal privately and transacted via Sedo.

Although I am a bit disengaged from the LLL.com market at the moment, I would think a domain name like this is worth somewhere in the vicinity of $50,000 – $75,000 USD on the wholesale market. It looks like these are “Chinese premium” letters which have fared well during the past few years. Estibot values this domain name at $67,000.

Sale of 1515.com Leads March Great Domains Auction (Updated)

SedoSedo’s Great Domains auction ended this afternoon, and the leading sale was the largest Great Domains auction sale that I can recall in quite some time. The 4 number 1515.com domain name sold today for $121,000. The auction grossed over $165,000 in total sales.  In total, 26 domain names were sold in this month’s auction. (Update: Sedo sent me a new file with the actual sales prices, which have been corrected in the article and below.)

Rounding out the top five sales of this month’s auction were Website.de (sold for 23,500 EUR), ASY.com (sold for $15,000), zocken.de (sold for 9,900 EUR), and XY1.com (sold for $1,600).

Because the auction finished today, these deals have most likely not closed yet. Sedo will officially report them publicly on its sold domain names RSS feed once the deals are transacted and completed. There were quite a few other domain names that saw serious bids, but the reserve prices were not met. Interested parties could contact Sedo if they would like to try and work out a post-auction deal.

Largest New gTLD Sale Reported: Casino.Online Sold for $200k+

15

According to a tweet from NameBio, the Casino.Online (new gTLD) domain name sold for $201,250 via Sedo. The sale and its price were confirmed via the Sedo domain sale RSS feed. I don’t believe Sedo offers payment plans or alternative payment options, so this would likely be an all-cash deal.

According to NameBio, this sale is the largest public sale of a new gTLD domain name. Previously, the sale of 1.XYZ for $181,720 in April of 2016 was the leading new gTLD domain name sale. 9.XYZ, which sold for $175,166 and Sex.Live, which sold for $160,000 rounded out the top 3. This is also the largest .Online sale by quite a bit. The second largest  sale is sportwetten.online, a domain name that sold for $16,318 in October of 2016.  There are only 28 .Online domain name sales archived in NameBio at this time.

Sedo Price Cap Increased to $50,000

I want to pass along some news from Sedo. According to an email I received from Sedo, the company has increased its price cap to $50,000. Previously, the cap was $10,000 for domain names. The news will be announced in a forthcoming email to Sedo clients.

In the meantime, here is the information about the change from email I received:

Sedo Seeking Adult, Gambling & Gaming Domain Names

6

Sedo_Logo_New_RGBI received an email from Sedo today with a call for domain name submissions. The company is seeking out premium adult, gambling, and gaming domain names, which will be represented by two of the company’s  brokers at The European Summit. The event takes place in early March, so people who would like to work with Sedo on selling their domain names, should get in touch soon.

I do not know how Sedo intends to promote the domain names at the event, nor do I know the commission rate for deals worked out as a result of submitting them. If you are interested in learning more, contact Sedo directly with your questions and I presume they will respond to you in a timely fashion.

Below  the email I received, which contains the contact information for submitting domain names. Please do not submit your domain names here because Sedo likely won’t see it and I have no interest in seeing it either!
