According to DomainIQ, Amazon owns nearly 40,000 domain names. This number could be much higher depending on the number of domain names the company owns that are registered under privacy proxy or have their registration data blocked due to GDPR. Within its portfolio are many thousands of new gTLD domain name registrations, which I notice in my DomainTools daily Registrant Alert email.

Cove.Tool? There is No .Tool
TechCrunch published an article about a startup called Cove.Tool that just raised $5.7 million in funding. When you have a look at the tweet linking to the article, see if you can spot what really caught my attention:

How Google is Using Google TV Domain Names
Yesterday, Google announced that it was bringing back its Google TV brand. This is not really all that interesting to me, but the domain name situation was something that caught my attention. First things first, check out the one minute introductory video shared on Google’s official Twitter account:

Dana Farber Uses .Gives for its Jimmy Fund
No matter what I do or where I go, I am always paying attention to domain names. When I notice an interesting domain name or domain extension in my “real world,” it always stands out to me.
This morning, I came across a tweet from The Jimmy Fund that promote its JimmyFund.Gives domain name. This marketing tool is being used in coordination with Dana Farber’s fundraising efforts during Childhood Cancer Awareness month:
“We can’t be satisfied until we cure every single child with cancer.” – Dr. Stegmaier, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at @DanaFarber

AICPA Introducing .CPA Domain Names
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is preparing for the launch of the .CPA domain name extension. There will be a number of requirements for accountants and accounting firms to obtain and use a matching .CPA domain name.
This morning, the Journal of Accountancy published an article with details about .CPA domain names and the launch of the .CPA extension. From what I understand, the .CPA extension will be marketed as an enhanced way for CPAs and accounting firms to increase trust and security while promoting their brands online.
How Colin Campbell Raised $7 Million for .Club
The .Club registry was arguably one of the strongest performing new domain name extensions out of the gate. The registry has always been fairly open about its business, especially about the company’s initial $7 million round of fundraising in advance of the auction that won it the right to sell .Club domain names.
In 2015, .Club registry CEO Colin Campbell shared some insight and thoughts about the .Club registry fundraising that was necessary to afford the purchase of the rights to the .Club extension. It was here that I viewed the video of the .Club team winning the 2013 auction, which was shared by CMO Jeff Sass:
