Atom.com Brings Expert Review Process in House

For as long as I’ve known the platform, Atom.com has relied on an “Expert Review Process” to evaluate domain names submitted by prospective sellers. This process, led by a group of experienced Atom sellers, helped accelerate the onboarding of domain names if they received enough positive votes.

That review system is now coming to an end, with Atom shifting to an in-house review process for all submitted domains. The company announced the change in a message to sellers, which I’ve included below.

I think this is a good move. Since Atom’s listings and search results are largely driven by AI as it currently stands, it makes sense that the same AI data could be used to determine which domain names are most likely to succeed on the platform. The only downside would be if the shift in accepted names continues to move the platform in a different direction, but I suspect that will be controlled.

Message to sellers from Atom:

Changes to Expert Review Process For Premium Listings

We’re writing to let you know about an important update to our Premium domain review and approval process.
As you may know, we previously offered an Expert Review process, where a panel of sellers could vote on submitted domains. This allowed us to tap into the collective insights of experienced sellers and rapidly scale our curation efforts.

As we move into the next phase of growth, we’re placing an even stronger emphasis on quality, consistency, and overall fit. To support that vision, we’ll be discontinuing the Expert Review process and transitioning to a fully internal review model for all Premium domain submissions.

Going forward, our internal team—guided by AI signals and proprietary data—will handle the complete evaluation process. While AI will continue to play an important role, final decisions for most domains will primarily be made by our in-house team, allowing us to apply a more consistent standard across the marketplace.

We’re confident this shift will result in stronger curation, an improved buyer experience, and ultimately higher sell-through rates for listed domains.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our Expert Reviewers who contributed their time, insights, and expertise to help shape the marketplace to where it is today.

As always, thank you for being part of the Atom community.

  1. This this as a good move that makes progress. Im an atom gold seller, i have some of the bad names accepted as premium last year. i would like to re review and delist those names.. some names are not even worth renewing, its better atom delist those and then i stop renewing them. i do not want the false hope that these names can sell… i as a seller want only quality names in atom marketplace including mine..

if the buyers get bad taste in atom marketplace it can affect every of us sellers.

    thanks
