2 Pizza ccTLD Sales Reported By Sedo

This afternoon, I received a tip that Sedo’s sale RSS feed is showing Pizza.nl as being sold for 75,000 EUR, which is approximately $103,000 at today’s exchange rate. A few minutes ago, I was sent Sedo’s weekly sale report (posted on TheDomains.com), and the top ccTLD sale was Pizza.es. The domain name sold for a reported 35,000 EUR, which is just under $50,000 at today’s exchange rate.

It appears the buyer of both of these domain names is a company called Takeaway.com. Based on the landing page of Pizza.nl, it looks like the same buyer may own several Pizza ccTLD domain names already, including:

  • Pizza.co.uk
  • Pizza.fr
  • Pizza.dk
  • Pizza.be
  • Pizza.pt

It’s very possible that the company owns other pizza ccTLD domain names, or perhaps even other pizza and food related domain names.

It will be interesting to see if the buyer intends to purchase additional Pizza.ccTLD domain names, and if so, how the market changes now that these two sales have been reported by Sedo. I am surprised they didn’t want to keep these sales private if they are still in acquisition mode, as two recent sales might indicate.

Takeaway.com is the name under which the company is internationally known. However, we are active in 10 countries and the names of websites change from one country to another: uk.takeaway.com – pizza.co.uk (United Kingdom), Thuisbezorgd.nl (Netherlands), Pizza.be (Belgium), Lieferservice.de (Germany), Lieferservice.at (Austria), Lieferservice.ch (Switzerland), Pizza.dk (Denmark), Pizza.lu (Luxembourg), Hämtmat.se (Sweden) and Takeaway.com (France). In total, our websites already include more than 20.000 member restaurants…….

    • That’s impressive, Stu. (Pizza’s one of my favorite foods, so much so that I bought PizzaBlogger.com) Curious, how long has it taken to get to that 20K number of member restaurants in your online ordering network? Also, does Liefer translate to pizza in German, or does it mean something else?

  1. It seems you can find their planned road on pizza.eu Practically, it seems they do not have only the .it in their collection. I am curios if it will be always the same in future.
