Sedo CMO Christian Voss Announces Departure

This morning on LinkedIn, Sedo’s Chief Marketing Officer Christian Voss announced he is leaving the company. Christian began his tenure at the company as Head of Sales and CMO back in 2013. He has been a mainstay at domain industry conferences and events. Along with some of the company’s standout brokers, Christian has been the face of Sedo to many domain investors.

Christian’s post announcing his departure is below:

Christian did not announce his plans post-Sedo, but he mentioned that he will be staying within the industry. It’s always a pleasure meeting with Christian, and I wish him well as he continues his career.

If someone from within the industry is looking for a high profile CMO position, Sedo may be looking to fill that role in the short term.

  1. Sedo is out of touch with the domain industry IMO. I dont blame him for leaving Sedo. No CMO can turn that ship around, they need a miracle. I haven’t sold a domain on Sedo in years, not even an inquiry, Meanwhile I’ve sold domains everywhere else.

  2. I agree. Sedo is a money pit for sellers. I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to sell domain names at Sedo, and for the past 20 years, I have never had one domain sale. You put the domain for auction with a reserve of $10,000, but they don’t tell the buyer. They want him to start at $30. It will take hundreds of bidders to reach the reserve, and when they make their own auction, they want you to start your reserve at $99. Many great domains were sold on Sedo for $150.00, because the owner cannot set his own reserve. Don’t waste your time and money trying to sell your domain names there, with no return on your money.
