If you follow the news (or politics) in the United States, you may have heard the name “Wayne Tracker” during the past few days. If you have not heard of this alias, here is what the New York Post wrote in an article today about former Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson:
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the former chairman and chief executive of Exxon Mobil Corp, used an alias email address while at the oil company to send and receive information related to climate change and other matters, according to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
The attorney general’s office said in a letter on Monday that it found Tillerson had used an alias email address under the pseudonym “Wayne Tracker” from at least 2008 through 2015.
Curious to see if anyone registered WayneTracker.com, I was somewhat surprised to already see an active website on WayneTracker.com. Interestingly, the domain name was registered to Greenpeace USA, an environmental organization. The organization registered the domain name on March 13.
The WayneTracker.com website looks the same as the ExxonKnew.org website, and it appears to be some sort of redirect rather than its own standalone website. Perhaps the organization will use it for something else in the future, but in the meantime, it was a pretty creative domain name registration from Greenpeace USA!
Way to keep track of Wayne Tracker, Elliot.
