Featured.com Reportedly Acquired for Mid-Six Figures + Equity

Last week, Tim Hargis shared with me Brett Farmiloe’s LinkedIn thread announcing that his company rebranded from Terkel to Featured. The company moved from the Terkel.io domain name to Featured.com. The upgrade was added to the list of companies that upgraded domain names, published on Embrace.com.

This morning, I was emailed a press release from Gerard Michael of DNPost.com. In it, he announced that he sold the Featured.com domain name. The sale price, which is subject to a non-disclosure agreement, is reportedly “in the mid six-figure range.” In addition, “an equity position in Terkel/Featured.com” was also reportedly included in the deal.

Although I did not seek to verify the veracity of this press release, because of the NDA, the sale price will not be recorded publicly on domain name sales charts.

The press release I received is below:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, July 27, 2023 – Gerard Michael, the esteemed founder and domain broker at DNPost.com, is pleased to announce the successful sale of the premium domain name www.Featured.com to Terkel.io.

As is customary for most sales (NDA), the exact sale price remains confidential. However, we can confirm that the transaction was in the mid six-figure range, marking it as a significant sale in 2023. Moreover, this successful deal has resulted in DNPost.com holding an equity position in Terkel/Featured.com, paving the way for exciting opportunities and future growth.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Brett Farmiloe and the Terkel team,” said Gerard Michael. “Alongside other visionary Venture Capitalists, we share a collective vision for the rebranding of terkel.io to www.Featured.com. 1. What is exactly ‘mid six figures range’ anyway? Would that be between $333,000 to $666,000 range? Not trying to be cheeky, I’ve seen over the years ‘lower six figures’, ‘upper six figures’, etc, so where exactly are the cutoffs between lower, mid and upper 6 figs?

    • I’ve always thought mid is somewhere between $250,000 – $750,000 but I guess it depends who is reporting and the message they’re trying to send.
