Sunday Updates

I feel like a city person at heart still, so when I saw this small snake this morning, it freaked me out a little bit. I believe it is a harmless garter snake, which is common in Massachusetts, but it scared the crap out of me. Anyway, here are some updates,

Memorial Day Weekend Updates

One of the nicer things about this business is that I can take a day off whenever I feel like it. Yesterday, I decided I would do some of the easier landscaping stuff around the house (mulching). I bought 5 cubic yards of mulch, a wheelbarrow, and a pitch fork. I am totally regretting it today. My back is sore, my arms are sore, and I didn’t even finish the job. There is a first and last time for everything.

If you’re in the US, I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and don’t forget the meaning behind the holiday. Here are some updates, thoughts, and a bit of advice for good measure.

  • Michael Castello published an article on DomainInvesting.com that I think is worth a read. I appreciate that Michael shared

Weekend Updates & Tips

I don’t know about you, but I get quite a bit of work done on the weekends, except in the Spring and Summer. This means I spend more time working during the week and less time focusing on my business on the weekends. The one downside of running a business as the sole owner is that I am always thinking about business.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. If you’re going to the Red Sox game at Fenway Park tonight (or basically any weekend game), let me know and we can meet up. Here are some updates and a couple of tips/suggestions.

  • On Friday night, entrepreneur Mark Cuban mentioned Fashion Metric on Shark Tank. Fashion Metric was founded by Morgan and Daina Linton, and the company has Cuban as an investor. Congratulations to Morgan and Daina on this primetime mention.
  • If you have an idea about a product or service that

My “Job” as a Domain Industry Blogger

9

I am very fortunate to have been able to turn this domain blog into a business venture. It’s taken considerable time to make this a business, and it’s usually enjoyable for me to write and have discussions with readers. Even though blogging is just one aspect of my domain investment business, I think  many people know me first as a blogger, and I want to discuss what this “job” entails from my perspective.

Because this blog is a business, my job is to write interesting articles that drive traffic and promote discussion. Although traffic isn’t the main driver behind what I write, I think it’s important that advertisers are getting full value. Of course visitors are important, and I assume that if the topic is of interest enough for me to write about it, there will be people who are interested in reading and discussing.

I like to write about

Weekend Updates and Thoughts

One thing I think about when deciding to invest in a domain name is to see if there is commercial value to the domain name. There are many excellent domain names that have meaning, but if nobody is going to use it commercially, it will be difficult to sell. That should be an important consideration to make when buying a domain name, and I think it’s often overlooked.

  • Great rebranding and redesign from Ray Hackney. I like the new TLD Investors brand better than the previous brand, and that is probably attributed to the fact that I dislike the term “domainer.” I think Ray is most likely the busiest writer in the domain space, and I enjoy reading his insights. I hope he has a smooth transition to the new url and he gets some Google love!

Saturday Updates!

We are taking our daughter to her first Red Sox game of the season today. I didn’t really like it when the Red Sox introduced Wally the Green Monster as a team mascot, but it makes me smile every time Hailey yells out “Wally!” when she sees him on tv. If you are celebrating Easter, I hope you have a great holiday and are spending it with friends and family. The Spring is coming!

Here are some weekend updates:

  • Speaking of Easter, holiday weekends can be good times for domain investors to
