Sedo: Compensation Has Taken Place Today

0

One final follow up on the DDoS attack that impacted Sedo parking clients  a couple of weeks ago. Sedo promised to make clients whole for any losses sustained as a result of the DDoS attack, and the company has made good on that promise.

In an email sent to clients this morning, Sedo informed them that “compensation for affected customers has taken place today.” The company has updated statistics in customer accounts to reflect the revenue that was earned during this time. In addition, “the total compensation amount will be added to the March “Corrector”* and can be consulted in the “Payments” tab of the “Parking Reporting” section.”

Sedo Sells End.com for $100k

Sedo broker Dave Evanson just reported that his company sold End.com for $100,000. The Whois has already changed, but it’s now under privacy guard at Go Daddy, so the buyer is unknown at this point in time. There are a whole lot of END acronyms, and many other extensions are also registered.

The domain name was one of the first domain names registered, and it holds a creation date of November 1993. The domain name was sold by someone in New Jersey, and the historical Whois information  shows that  it was once owned by End Technologies. The seller appears to be have been once affiliated with that company back in 2001.

Congratulations to all of the parties involved in the sale. It’s a pretty solid price for a nice domain name.

Sedo Update: Parking Performance Optimal

0

Last week, I let you know about an email Sedo sent to its parking customersletting them know the company would make them whole after some issues arose following a DDoS attack on its servers. Yesterday afternoon, Sedo followed up on this email to let clients know that “Sedo’s parking platform has reverted to optimal performance.”

The company is going reviewing its data to make sure customers who are showing less revenue are compensated fully for the losses that were incurred. I think it’s a good faith effort to make sure clients don’t lose money through no fault of their own. It’s wise that the company made these moves before any type of public outcry.

Full announcement is below.

Sedo: “We Will be Compensating You For The Parking Decrease”

2

Last Friday, Sedo informed its parking customers about a malicious Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack the company was facing, which impacted its parked domain names. Apparently, Sedo techs were able to alleviate most of the affects of the attack within a few hours.

This morning, the company provided an update to SedoPro customers informing them that the company has “not been monetizing optimally since that day.” In light of this, the company wants to inform customers that they aren’t going to lose money as a result of this attack and stated, “we will be compensating you for the parking decrease, should you be affected by it.” Details about how this will be done have not been released yet.

I don’t park domain names with Sedo, so I am not exactly sure how much of an impact the DDoS has had on parking, but hopefully the company will make everyone whole. More information about this will be provided when I hear more.

March Great Domains Auction Picks

Great Domains is holding its March auction beginning tomorrow, and you might notice something difference when you visit the website. Sedo announced a GreatDomains.com site redesign last week, although the functionality remains the same.

As of right now, there are fewer than 100 domain names up for auction this month, but there are a few really good names at fair reserve prices. My top five picks from the auction are listed below along with the reserve price (I do not have any names in the auction). The auction ends on March 22.

  • BloodPressure.net – Reserve: 1,000 – 4,999 USD
  • RiskManagement.com – Reserve: 50,000 – 99,999 USD
  • Medals.com – Reserve: 10,000 – 24,999 USD
  • Weights.com – Reserve: 10,000 – 24,999 USD
  • MNK.com – Reserve: 5,000 – 9,999 USD
