Hips.com

Hips.com was sold for $25,000 via Sedo’s Great Domains auction this afternoon. There were 8 bidders who participated in this reserve auction, and bidder #7 was the winning bidder.

I was actively following this auction, but I did not end up bidding. I was prepared to bid on the domain name, but I decided to sit on the sidelines once it passed a number I was willing to risk on this investment.

I think there are

Sedo Looking to Hire a Sales & Brokerage Consultant

4

Solomon Amoako, Chief Sales Officer at Sedo, published a job opportunity with the company on LinkedIn and tweeted about it last night. Sedo is looking to hire a Sales and Brokerage Consultant, which seems to have the job description of a domain broker. The job will be based out of the company’s Cambridge, Massachusetts office.

The listing was published about two weeks ago, and it looks like there are currently seven applicants via LinkedIn. The person who is hired will be responsible for selling domain names that are listed for sale on Sedo. Salary and benefit details were not disclosed in the listing.

Here is an overview of the position taken from the LinkedIn listing:

August Great Domains Auction Results

Sedo just shared the Great Domains auction results, and I have published them below. The auction totaled a little more than $75,000 in domain sales.

Two 3 letter com domain names were the largest sales of the month. SGJ.com sold for $31,500 an UTT.com sold for $21,500. BB.org was the third largest sale of the month, closing at 15,500 EUR.

Since the auction ended today, none of these domain name sales are closed yet. Once they close, the results will be reported officially by the company and listed on DNJournal and Namebio.

Sedo to Attend dmexco to Promote Domain Names

For the second year in a row, Sedo will be  attending the dmexco conference in Cologne, Germany on September 16 and 17. The dmexco conference is billed as the largest digital marketing conference in Europe. Over 32,000 people from more than  100 countries are expected to attend. Attendees range from marketers to communications professionals from agencies as well as independent companies of all sizes.

The special promotion that Sedo is undertaking is an opportunity for the company to connect with prospective domain name buyers and companies that work with domain names. According to Sedo’s Carolyn Rodon, “dmexco is the perfect opportunity to converge on a unique target audience and share expertise on domains as well as what’s to come with new gTLDs and the future of the internet.” With many of Sedo’s partners being headquartered in North America, this event offers exposure to people and companies who likely wouldn’t cross paths with the company at other events.

Here is some additional information about Sedo’s promotion at dmexico that was shared with me:

Give.com Sells via Sedo (Updated)

It appears that Give.com has sold via Sedo. According to Whois records, the current domain registrant of Give.com is Sedo LLC Transfer Service, which is generally the account domain names are placed in during the sales escrow process. Update:  According to a tweet from Sedo broker Dave Evanson, he brokered Give.com in a $500,000 deal.

I looked through my email, and I saw that Dave Evanson was recently brokering Give.com. In fact, Dave listed Give.com for sale for $800,000 via the Weekly Brokerage Listings article in June.

I reached out to Dave to see if he could share any information about the sale, and he confirmed that the domain name has been sold. Dave told me, “At this point I am able only to confirm I have been brokering give.com and the domain is currently in the process of being transferred. I will provide updates as appropriate. Thanks.”

Prior to Give.com moving to the Sedo escrow account, the domain name was

Sedo’s Great Domains July Auction Results

Sedo’s Great Domains auction for the month of July ended yesterday afternoon, and I published the list of sales below. The largest sale was for rechtsanwälte.de, which sold for 14999 EUR, which is about $16,436.43 USD at today’s exchange rate. I did a Google search, and it looks like the German word “rechtsanwälte” means attorney or lawyer in English, which helps to explain the value of the domain name.

Interestingly, of the 13 domain names that sold in the auction, 6 of them are .DE ccTLD domain names. Also interestingly, only 5 of the 13 domain names that sold were .com domain names. I don’t recall seeing an auction like this with fewer than half of the sales being .com.

Keep in mind that
