ASAP.com Sold in Bankruptcy Auction

The ASAP.com domain name was sold in a bankruptcy auction managed by Heritage Global Partners (HGP). The sale price was $340,000, plus an additional 19% buyer’s premium. The total paid for the domain name was $404,600.

David Barkoff, Senior Vice President at Heritage Global Partners, confirmed the sale has fully transacted. David also let me know that final sale price was solely for ASAP.com, and he shared the following comment about the recently concluded auction:

“HGP is pleased with the outcome of the Waitr Holdings Bankruptcy Auction. All of the trademarks of the debtor, all of their customer lists, all of their patents as well as marquee domains including asap.com, bitesquad.com, cannabisasap.com, marijuanaasap.com were sold in the online auction which included buyers from around the world. Asap.com alone sold for $340,000.”

It remains to be seen if DNJournal and NameBio will index the sale at $340,000 or $404,600. While the domain name technically sold for $340,000, the buyer paid more than $400k the acquire the asset.

It’s a sad conclusion for Waitr Holdings, but it demonstrates that an exceptional domain name like ASAP.com will retain its value even if the business operating on it fails.

They paid $3 million, so $340,000 is along way from retaining its value.
