Amazon Registers 4 .Amazon Domain Names

Amazon has registered four new .Amazon domain names, according to a Registrant Monitor alert email I received from DomainTools this morning. The four domain names Amazon registered are:

  • My.Amazon
  • Home.Amazon
  • Go.Amazon
  • www.Amazon

These four domain names were registered at Com Laude, a corporate domain name registrar. None of these domain names resolve to active websites or forward to pages within the Amazon.com website as of the time of publication.

Using nTLDStats.com, it looks like Amazon has now registered 37 .Amazon domain names. A site:.Amazon search on Google shows the company uses at least a few of its .Amazon domain names for websites, including SmallBusiness.Amazon, PharmacyServices.Amazon, and Advertising.Amazon.

All of the corresponding Amazon.com subdomains – like Home.Amazon.com – resolve to active pages within the Amazon website. I suspect these domain names were created/registered for defensive purposes.
