Sunday Updates and Thoughts

With Memorial Day behind us, the typically slower Summer months are ahead. I think this is going to be a busy Summer for people in the domain space. Usually, I find that June, July, and August are fairly slow, but I think they are going to be busier than usual. My feeling is that there are segments of domain names that are selling for far more than before, and that is fueling speculation in other areas. This is driving up competition and prices in other areas.

Here are some thoughts and updates for you. If you would like to share some of your own business thoughts or updates, you are welcome to do so. Your comments are also welcome.

There were nearly 200 comments on Friday’s post about favorite domain names. The biggest surprise for me is the number of new TLD domain names that people chose as favorites. I think my personal favorite of names submitted by others is

Memorial Day Sunday Thoughts and Updates

It’s Memorial Day weekend, which is a holiday weekend in the United States. Memorial Day is a day to honor the memory of people who lost their lives while on active duty in the United States military. I wish you a nice and meaningful weekend and thank you to those who have served.

Here are some thoughts and updates for the weekend. As always, your domain industry thoughts and updates are welcome.

Thanks to all who have supported our fundraising efforts as we raise money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Karen and I are riding in the 2015 Pan-Mass Challenge in August, and we have set lofty fundraising goals. I have raised over 25% of my fundraising goal so far, and I sincerely appreciate the support! Dana-Farber is a great organization, and any amount you can donate would be appreciated.

It has been the biggest sporting weekend in quite some time. We had the Kentucky Derby, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fight, and NFL Draft this weekend. We also have a Red Sox Yankees series at Fenway Park, and I’ll be at the Sox game tonight.

Here are some thoughts and updates. As always, you are invited to share your own thoughts and updates in the comment section if you would like.

If you or someone you know is running in the Boston Marathon tomorrow, let me know. We will be watching some of the race from mile 13 in Wellesley, and I will be on the lookout. Watching the Marathon has become an annual tradition for us, and it usually motivates me to run more.
