NameJet Holding Premium .Info Auction

NameJet is holding a private  auction  with Afilias, and 79 keyword rich .info domain names are up for sale. The actual auctions will take place from May 3rd to May 10th, although backorders need to be placed in order for bidders to participate in each of the private auctions. There is no reserve on any of the auctions.

Here are a few of the domain names that are up for sale in this auction:

  • Auction.info
  • Books.info
  • CreditCards.info
  • Gifts.info
  • Gold.info
  • Golf.info
  • Hosting.info
  • Jobs.info
  • Mortgage.info
  • Soccer.info
  • Storage.info
  • Tickets.info
  • Wine.info

As you can see, there are some fantastic keyword domain names up for sale. In my opinion, if these names were .com, the auction would generate tens of millions in sales. As is, I wouldn’t be shocked if the auction generated a quarter of a million in sales.

From my perspective, now is a very good time to hold an auction like this. With the first new gTLD domain names expected to be introduced later this year, I think .info domain names will become more difficult to sell. People will have more choices, and while .info makes sense, there will be plenty of other options.

I am pretty sure I won’t be a participant in this auction, but it will be interesting to see how well the auctions do and track subsequent sales down the road. Perhaps I will prove to be wrong in my assessment, and the introduction of gTLDs will make consumers more aware of .info.

  1. Just made some search at namebio.com and it showed manucure.info at $46k and that was in Y2008 when .info wave was new.
But, today, I would like to agree with your understanding that it may generate a quarter or less of million in sales. But which one will claim the big price is really interesting to see in the above auction of dot info domain names.

  2. Just contacted namejet about my .info’s but i guess its pretty late now. But for sure I will follow the turnout of the auction and see what will be the results. I got the following names and I do hope It does make sense.

    rookie.info
    laughter.info
    would.info
    often.info
    hacksaw.info
    and more….

    • I am pretty sure that was a private auction, and all of the .infos were owned by one company. I don’t think NameJet invited other .info domain owners to submit their names for auction.

  3. Ones that stick out the most to me:

    Auction.info
    Hosting.info
    Tickets.info
    Golf.info
    Jobs.info
    Mortgage.info

I would think Auction.info is pretty strong, people searching for information on auctions most likely to spend no? Well that and Ticket information..
