Wordfence Parent Rebrands as Defiant – Bought the EMD via Sedo

I use the Wordfence plugin for security on all of my WordPress-based websites. I think it offers an enhanced level of security, and it has both a free and a paid version. This afternoon, Wordfence announced that its corporate brand name has been changed from Feedjit Inc. to Defiant Inc. Smartly the company acquired the  matching Defiant.com domain name in advance of the rebranding.

Curious to learn more about the sale price, I searched through my email history and found the name in a Sedo sale report. Defiant.com was acquired for the very reasonable price of $45,000 in February of 2017. The sale is publicly archived on NameBio. I am not sure if the domain name was being brokered by a Sedo domain broker or if the owner put the name up for sale on the platform with a make offer listing or a buy it now price.

It looks like the Wordfence service (and plugin) will retain its branding and the name change is limited to the corporate branding of its parent company. It does not look like the company was able to get the matching @defiant Twitter handle, although having the domain name should be good enough for the time being.

Thanks to Jen Sale from Evergreen for sharing the news with me.
