.SI domain names have been the ccTLD for Slovenia since 1992. More recently, the SI term has become associated with Superintelligence in the same way AI is a common acronym for Artificial Intelligence. I shared my thoughts on the .AI and .SI discussion yesterday.

This morning, Namecheap and Spaceship Founder Richard Kirkendall announced .SI domain names were available to register and transfer at Spaceship. He also announced the price for registrations and renewals:

You’ve all seen the news already. President Trump signed an executive order directing the executive branch of the US government to use the terms “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI.” This, in turn, has led to quite a bit of interest in the .SI domain name.

In the startup and tech space, there has been a great deal of talk about also changing the terminology to match. Some of those people have even talked about .SI domain names. In fact, even the Polymarket X account commented about a .SI domain name over the weekend:

There’s been a lot of talk on domain investor discussion outlets regarding .SI domain names. .SI is the ccTLD extension for the country of Slovenia, and the extension is managed by the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia rather than a marketing firm looking to grow the extension.

Lately, as AI and .AI domain names have grown in breadth and value, a number of domain investors have discussed how .SI can stand for “superintelligence” in a similar fashion to how the Anguilla ccTLD became popular amongst AI startups and companies. The thought, it seems, is that now is an early time to buy .SI domain names akin to 10+ years ago for .AI domain names.

If you’ve been fortunate to spend time traveling to other countries, you’ll quickly learn that .com is less important to businesses in some countries. In European countries, local businesses tend to use their own ccTLD extensions. I’ve enjoyed visits to many countries in Europe, and while the biggest – global brands or brands with global aspirations – use .com, the smaller businesses frequently use their local extension.

I was recently doing some outbound marketing on a two word .com domain name. There were numerous businesses that incorporated these two words in their brands, and one operated on the .com.au extension. I thought this Australian company might have an interest in my .com domain name to show its global reach. I was wrong. The CEO of the company told me there was no interest in acquiring my domain name:

Andy Booth recently reported the $220,000 sale of Sim.ai. Based on the screenshot he shared, it appears he sold it directly to the buyer using Escrow.com to transact.

The $220,000 sale of Sim.ai is the fifth largest .AI domain name sale, year to date, according to NameBio.

This afternoon, James Booth announced the $600,000 sale of Cloud.ai. The domain name was acquired anonymously by the buyer using GoDaddy’s Domain Broker Service (DBS). The buyer was represented by GoDaddy broker Tim Perkins.
