The National Retail Federation (NRF) registered TrumpTariffTax.com at CSC in October of 2024. Shortly thereafter, the trade organization issued a press release highlighting the potential costs of tariffs that, at the time, had been discussed by US President Donald Trump.
With tariffs announced at the White House yesterday – “Liberation Day” – it will be interesting to see if the NRF uses TrumpTariffTax.com in any marketing efforts opposing the tariffs. By using a domain name like this, I think the goal would be to squarely pin the tariffs – and identify them as a tax on consumers – on President Trump.
At the time of publication, TrumpTariffTax.com is not being used by the organization. I would not be surprised to see it used at some point soon now that a massive round of tariffs have been announced on many goods.
