NamesCon Sponsor Spotlight: WhoisXML API

whoisxml-apiWith NamesCon coming up in less than a month, we are running a series of Sponsor Spotlight articles to familiarize people with the companies whose support helps make NamesCon happen each year. Today’s Sponsor Spotlight interview is with Jonathan Zhang, CEO of Whois API, Inc. (Whois XML API).

NamesCon will be held at the Tropicana in Las Vegas January 22-25, 2017. We are expecting over 1,400 attendees at this year’s conference!

Thank you to Jonathan for sharing information about his company:

What is your company’s mandate; what sets you apart?

We provide the best whois and domain name data available. WhoisXmlApi.com has been gathering domain Whois records for almost all gTLDs and ccTLDs for many years. This data is unified, consistent, well parsed and accurate. It is provided through real-time APIs, database downloads and online tools.

Who benefits from your product or service?

Domainers use whois API to check domain name availabilities and track domain registration changes. Registries, registrars and domain brokers use Whois API to ensure reliable and secure domain name ownership transfer and management. Brand agents use Whois data to protect their intellectual property and check potential trademark infringements through searches to scope domain name similarities, duplicates or copycats. Domain investors use the information gained from Whois searches to learn about their competition and identify investment opportunities. Website owners and managers use Whois API to identify new business and partnership opportunities and to locate potential buyers through the contact details provided in the Whois database. Cyber-security researchers use Whois API for investigating and curbing cybercrime. Payment processors and banks use Whois API to detect transaction fraud. Law enforcement agencies use Whois API to identifying all connected domains, websites and IP addresses associated with fraudulent activities and criminals.

What factors have contributed to your company’s growth and success?

Strong user-community feedback and engagement, strong focus on a set of products and services, and excellent customer service.

How would you define your company strategy and vision?

We aim to become the biggest domain name data providers in the domain industry, cybersecurity industry, and other industries.
