Great Time in Chicago at Rook Media Meet Up

Rook Media / Domain Sponsor organized and hosted a fun domain investor meetup in Chicago earlier this week. There were around 20 people in attendance, and it was a great opportunity to meet other people who are involved in the business while having a good time in Chicago. I caught a couple of Cubs’ games, took a boat tour, had some good food, and had a relaxing time in Chicago.

The thing I enjoyed most about the event was that there was a greater opportunity to chat with people than at a conference. I met a few people who are active in the business who I hadn’t previously met or had only chatted with via email, blog comments, or social media. I was also able to learn more about Rook, and I am going to try out their parking platform beginning next week.

I would encourage you to attend a local meetup or event if there’s one in your area. I know there have been events organized in Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, and other cities in the US. I am hosting a meetup in Boston next Wednesday. DomainFest is going to Hong Kong in September. There are many opportunities to meet other domain investors outside of a conference setting.

If there aren’t any meetups planned for your area, why not organize one on your own? Chances are good that there are other people in your area who would be interested in talking about domain investing. There are probably industry companies who would help organize or sponsor local events, and I would be happy to help you publicize the event.

The Chicago meet up was a great chance to catch up with some old friends while meeting others who are active in our business. A special thanks goes out to Joe Higgins who organized the meetup.
