Capturing an Eye Catching Domain Name

Have you ever stopped what you were doing to take a picture of a domain name? Maybe you passed a billboard while driving on the highway and went completely out of your way to pass it again and take a picture. Perhaps you were taking a walk in the city and you saw a domain name that made you stop and whip out your phone.

I probably have dozens of photos of random signs, billboards, and other advertising materials with interesting domain names. Most of these are exceptional domain names that caught my attention, but there are plenty of images of cringy domain names that I don’t understand how any business with common sense would consider using. Sometimes I write about these domain names – like Direct.com – and sometimes I share elsewhere.

Part of me thinks I grab a photo because of my blog and social media presence. If I didn’t have this I wouldn’t feel that urge to capture a photo for sharing. Another part of me thinks others do this as well because it’s my business.

Do you take photos of interesting domain names you see?

  1. Hi Elliot,

Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger.
I see domain names while reading articles, talking with people, and walking around.
In other words, domains are everywhere, and you don’t have to have an eagle’s eye to spot one.
It’s a good habit to have, great mind exercise, and future money in your bank account.

  2. So I am in New York for the US Tennis Open and NY is like my 2nd home of the 2nd Home…condo overlooking the Brooklyn State Park. Yes I do know the trains very well!!
You take the #7 train aka the Mets Train to Mets Stadium and to the US Open at Flushing Meadows. So you get to see many nice ads on the trains:
The good ones I see are michaeleltoro.com and michaelthebull.com (Spanish and English). and Nuts.com. Insects.com
I get to travel all over the world for free and get to see domains in action:

    https://chrisgoh.com/1worddomain/

Tip: at the end of #7 train to Flushing is the Flushing Chinatown…..yea…many many cheap good food!! go the the food court.
Yes I do know New York very well and if you want tips, you can contact me.
Go take the E train all the way to World Trade Center and walk to the Brooklyn Bridge (DUMBO) and get the pizza and enjoy the Manhattan Skylines.
