Building for Domain Investors is Happening

One of the criticisms of companies catering to domain investors is the lack of innovation in the space. Those people aren’t wrong. There are a handful of companies intent on making innovative changes to domain investor services, but the needle doesn’t seem move much. I am hopeful that is going to change.

I was in Las Vegas for the ICA meeting last week and had the chance to connect with domain investor colleagues. One thing I heard from several people is that they / their companies are building new products and services that are tailored to domain investor needs.

With few exceptions, I am generally open to trying different things that can help grow my business. I am not usually a first mover, but I am willing to give products and services a look when other investors appear to be finding success with them.

My time at the ICA meeting was short. It was the first domain industry event I attended since NamesCon 2020. I had a great time at this well-organized event and will definitely do my best to be at the next one. I didn’t have a chance to see or speak with everyone who attended, so I am sure there are others who are also diligently building.

It was great to connect with colleagues and see what they’re up to right now. For some, it was status quo. Like me, they’re doing what they have always been doing. For others, they are building new and improved products and service. I look forward to seeing what comes of their efforts.

  1. ICA again was another great show and cream of the URL crop of domain professionals. Domains are starting to regain respect as an asset class so more talent and resources should be coming and competition is always good. Our team launched DNTrademark to make your URL assets aware with notification of brand identity protection, VNOC dot com, a powerful platform that compresses time to market with powerful tools to turn your URL into smart digital assets with utility and an AI based pentester for URL security. Looking forward to more builders coming to the domain space and these conf. like ICA, Namescon are great to learn what others are up to and share in the knowledge.

  2. I am in Melbourne Australia for the AO
Great gorgeous city and thanks to the strong US dollar, things are pretty very affordable,

That why Melbourne is the most liveable city in the world.

  3. Thank you for joining us in Vegas, Elliot! We’re already looking forward to seeing you next year and, in the meantime, continuing to discuss these topics on our AMAs.
