Every month, Verisign publishes a report with the 10 trending keywords in .com and .net domain registrations from the prior month. For the last two months, “trump” has been one of the ten trending keywords for .com registrations. This is obviously related to Republican US Presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
Using Verisign’s DomainView tool, I had a look at newly registered domain names that contain the word “trump” in them. I would guess that the vast majority of these registrations were related to Mr. Trump, and some of them are pretty funny.

Yes, people actually spent time and money buying these domain names.
Mr. Trump’s company has been known to use the UDRP process to take domain names that the company believes are infringing on its brands and trademarks. Once the election has ended, it will be interesting to see if they file any UDRP proceedings to attempt to take any Trump-related domain names.

If Trump loses the election, all of those domains will be dropped over the next 2 yrs. It would be foolish for him to spend money on UDRP.
If he wins, all of those domains will be around for the next 2 to 6 yrs. Slim chance he will go for 8 yrs. And, possibly he would not be re-elected.
The big questions is – if Trump had not run for Pres., what would have dominated the news for the past 9 months?

Bruce, sorry to hear you’re being abused by spiteful trolls. Being an American once meant being someone who admired success, on balance at least. But it’s an identity in peril. Now many of us want nothing more than to tear down the successful and stomp them flat. Because racist. I also own 1 Trump-related name. It has not been used as a point of leverage to threaten or insult me yet, but maybe that just means it’s not a great name. Yours is.
