Wibiya Toolbar Added to Elliot’s Blog

I was just approved for an account at Wibiya, a company currently beta testing its toolbar. I have tested the toolbar on a couple of different browsers, and I haven’t found any glitches, and I would appreciate your feedback. Please let me know if the toolbar is causing any technical issues that might cause problems for you (or your browser).

I’d also like to know if you find the toolbar helpful, annoying, slow loading, ugly…etc. This is just a test for now, so I’d really appreciate your honest feedback.

  1. Don’t see the advantage of the toolbar. The top-menu has it all ! Could slow down the website. Usually toolbars are annoying and people move away due to spyware related content (not applicable on this blog of course, but still people think its spyware related).

  2. Works fine for me, but seems redundant to features already on your site. I guess if you removed your search box and recent posts, it might make more sense…but I don’t recommend doing that.

Curious to see if it helps you with traffic, though.

  3. yeah, I’m not a big fan either, it’s got too much stuff or something, could be useful I’m sure for some people, but imho not worth it.

  4. It’s not bad, I like it. Just not sure if it’s right for a domain blog. Definitely not sure about the barney purple, lol.

I think the social media savvy investors will like it.

I wonder how Mark Fulton has done with it at DotSauce.com. He’s been using it for at least a month or two.

One thing I noticed is your links at the top for SnapNames, Parked, Mozy and Liquid Web no longer fade. Is that because of the new toolbar?

  5. Wibiya is great I have been using it for about 3 months. You all would be very impressed with the backend. I foresee that Wibiya is going to be a very common appearance across many blogs.

Here is a screenshot of about 3 months worth of useage statistics for my Wibiya toolbar…

So as you can see it’s getting used. I was surprised to see the translations, subscriptions and sharing going on.

  6. Hi Everybody,

Just wanted to let you know that we you see now from the Wibiya service is just the tip of the iceberg as we are only presenting about 10% of the service to the public.

You will be surprised of whats to come in the very near future.

Your feedback is much appreciated and we welcome any suggestions and ideas for creating function that fit your needs in the best way (http://www.getsatisfaction.com/wibiya).

If there is anything we can do to help you with don’t hesitate to contact us at info@wibiya.com or the link I provided above.

Eliott – let me know if you need anything.

    Best regards,

    Dror (Co-founder)

  7. Ugh. Annoying, obtrusive, ugly, redundant to me, Elliot (I even clicked back to see if someone had gotten malware–or some “ware” or virus on my ‘puter.

Plus; whether true or not; it feels like a 3rd party is spying/collecting data from your visitors (like me).

Are they? Are you sure? How can you be sure?

If you keep it anyway, I hope you’ll supply/require Dror to allow disabling/removing.

That which does not add, subtracts.
