“What Makes This Domain Name Valuable?”

As Aziz noted this morning on X, GoDaddy has added an AI feature to its for sale landing pages, allowing prospective buyers to get additional insight into why a domain name is valuable. On the right side of GoDaddy “for sale” landers, there’s an “Ask AI” button visible.

Clicking the button opens a pop-up window with a pre-populated question, What makes this domain name valuable? Clicking the prompt draws an AI-generated response from the tool emphasizing some of the unique traits of the domain name.

At the moment, it does not appear that visitors are able to interact further with the AI agent or ask additional questions. This is probably good as domain name sellers would likely be upset if visitors could ask questions on their own that could lead them to other domain names listed for sale across the network.

I imagine GoDaddy might expand this and add follow-up prompts that will promote the domain name further. Perhaps, there could be some prompts to answer questions about the ease of payment and transfers, renewal costs, and other questions visitors may have that won’t lead visitors to other domain names.

I’m not sure how helpful the AI can be, but it does provide additional information and context in a way that doesn’t muddy the landing page or take anything away from the lander design.

  1. I loved the Dan feature that allowed us to add text to the landing page regarding the domain name. Not sure why Afternic and GoDaddy did away with that feature. This seems like their answer to replace it. And it is not intuitive. You need to click on the “What makes this domain…..” which isn’t clear.

While Afternic does have Monthly Views, it doesn’t have “Recently Viewed” that Dan had, which again, was very helpful to me.

  2. UDRPs will increase for domain name owners.

Upselling of alternative domain extensions or options will increase.

None are great for domain investors listings.

  3. Instead of asking “What Makes This Domain Name Valuable?
ask—why should I buy this shitty domain and at what cost…. and what the hell can I do with this domain which all leads to BullShitWebsites.com

save you lots of money and stupid time wasting
