Video: Squarespace Commercial Highlights Domain Extensions

Squarespace acquired Google Domains in 2023. All domain names that were registered at Google Domains at that time were migrated to Squarespace.

Squarespace is primarily a website building platform with a focus on small to medium sized businesses. The domain name business was acquired in support of its primary services. To that end, the company has never put out a marketing campaign focused exclusively on its domain name registrar line of business.

That has changed. Squarespace just kicked off a new marketing campaign called “Dream It, Domain It,” and the focus of the first television commercial is domain name extensions. The video was just released today, and I embedded it below.

I was told the video was produced in-house by Squarespace’s creative team, and it was created in partnership with Identity Digital. It’s no surprise that Identity Digital’s extensions are front and center.

It will be interesting to see how this campaign develops and where these commercials are aired. Squarespace has advertised at the Super Bowl, and it would be neat to see a domain name-centric television commercial during the Super Bowl. I guess we will have to wait and see if that happens.
