There is an article in the NY Post about a high-profile murder case that is coming up for trial in New Jersey. A high-value domain name appears to have been associated with people involved in the matter.
“The Caneiro brothers ran an NJ-based tech company, Square One,” reported the NY Post.
According to the Whois history tool at DomainTools, SquareOne.com was registered to a Paul Caneiro in New Jersey in 2017 and in prior years.

NameBio shows the SquareOne.com domain name was sold via GoDaddy in 2020 for $35,333. My guess is that this sale occurred through an expiry auction.

People sometimes wonder why individuals and companies let high-value domain names expire. In some cases, the owner may be unable to renew a domain name. I don’t know what happened in this particular situation though.
Illustrating the life cycle of a domain name and how a meaningful domain name can retain its value, SquareOne.com is now forwarding to the matching .CA domain name, which is owned by a car insurance company.
This is a horrific circumstance, but SquareOne.com maintained its value.
