TRC.com Sets Auction Record at Sav.com (Update)

TRC.com expired at the end of November 2024. The domain name was apparently registered at a domain registrar that doesn’t have a deal with an expiry auction platform, so it was fully deleted from the registry. As a result, drop catching auction platforms competed to catch the domain name once it made it through the expiration cycle.

Sav.com caught the domain name, and TRC.com was entered into a ten day auction. After a great deal of extended bidding, the auction for TRC.com closed at $100,000. There were 304 bids placed by 22 different bidders.

In looking at NameBio, this auction will set a record for the largest sale on the Sav.com platform once it closes. The current largest sale on Sav is Sovereign.xyz, which sold for $31,250 in November of 2022. I am unsure if Sav will report when the winning bidder pays for the domain name, but if / when the transaction closes, it will set a record a platform record.

Once the sale is confirmed and added to NameBio, it will also be added to the list of recent 3 letter .com domain name sales maintained on Embrace.com.

Update: As of February 18, the sale has transacted successfully.

  1. Wait, so…

You’re telling me Sav beat all the other services with all their resources that would have been going for this domain?

    How is that even possible?

  2. I keep hearing about these record breaking wholesale auctions.
The $802,500 closing bid on Spend .com has yet to be confirmed a month later.

I checked the DNJournal*com Top 100 list and it isn’t listed at all.
It should be the No.1 public sale as of today.

Why hasn’t this sale been confirmed by DropCatch?

    • While at the ICA meeting in Las Vegas last month, the CEO of the company that owns DropCatch confirmed with me in person that Spend.com was purchased.

You’ll have to ask Ron Jackson about why it is not included on DNJ. I don’t believe DropCatch reports its sales like other platforms though.
