Track the Growth of “Prosumer” Domain Names

Earlier this morning, Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, declared it would be the year of the “prosumer” for people working at the “frontier of AI:”

Honestly, I had to do a quick search to learn the meaning of prosumer (Wikipedia states it is “an individual who both consumes and produces.”) It’s a mashup of the words producer and consumer.

As a domain investor, I thought it would be interesting to track the growth in the number of domain names containing the prosumer term. Using DomainLeads, it looks like there are 394 domain names with prosumer in them right now. The exact prosumer term has 50 TLDs registered. Just three of those domain names are developed.

I have no idea if prosumer domain names are going to trade at much of a premium, but it will be interesting to see if this is a trend that will catch on. At the very least, I imagine there will be domain investors who hope to catch lightning in a bottle. As always, the domain registrars will be the big winners.
