It is helpful to see what domain names are being used by companies that are growing and receiving funding. One way to do this is to read articles about fundraising on publications like TechCrunch and The Verge. There are many fundraising rounds that are shared in press releases and redistributed in industry-specific publications and not on the mainstream tech news websites I follow regularly.
To bridge this very large gap, I have found it helpful to follow two accounts on X that do a great job of uncovering funding rounds and sharing the domain names associated with these companies.
I follow Dommunity and Raising.fi accounts on X. These accounts regularly share fundraising rounds and the domain names the companies have been using. Dommunity has also done a nice job of highlighting domain name changes as well.
I think it’s helpful to identify trends that may exist as companies raise funds. For instance, it can be helpful to see when companies might shift to better domain names and what extensions companies are using at different stages. It can also be helpful if I see a company that has a brand similar to one of my domain names. Perhaps my domain name will become an upgrade target for one of these companies in the future.
Shout out to these two X accounts for posting interesting and potentially helpful information via their posts.
Very helpful and thank you for sharing. I have followed both accounts.
Raising.fi is always a “fun read” but the excessive emoji’s are annoying.
Great insights, Elliot — following Dommunity and Raising.fi has definitely been useful for spotting naming and upgrade trends early. I’ve also touched on some of these domain adoption patterns (and how they tie into the premium market outlook) in my blog post.

Always fascinating to see how quickly funded companies start prioritizing stronger names as they scale.
