Merge is Coming Up – Are You Going?

The Merge Show is coming up in less than a month. The new conference, which has ties to THE Domain Conference, will be held in Orlando, Florida October 14-18. I bought my conference pass when the show was first announced, and my flight and hotel are booked. I will be there from Monday through Wednesday.

There seem to be quite a few domain industry speakers and sponsors that are planning to attend, so I am hoping to see be a good turnout. Ron Jackson wrote about the Merge Show a couple of weeks ago, and he offers some insight beyond the conference agenda. I don’t typically attend many of the panels or keynotes, but it looks like there is a wide range of topics that will be covered. It also looks like the conference organizers reached out beyond the domain industry, so it will likely be good to get topical perspectives from people outside of the domain name business.

Event tickets are now $899, but there may be some conference sponsors who have discount codes for last minute attendees (I do not have any, sorry). The conference will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott, and the hotel rate secured by the conference organizers is relatively inexpensive at $129/night plus taxes and fees.

Because the conference is being held close to Disney World, I thought about going down there with my wife and kids for the weekend. I decided to pass on that for a few reasons, but perhaps this would be a good option for you. If you do bring your kids and want to stay at a property within Disney World, I recommend staying at Bay Lake Tower. It is very close to the conference, and the hotel is great (we were just there in April). You might also check with the concierge at the conference hotel to see if they have any special Disney World offers for you and your family.

Let me know if you’re planning to attend the Merge Show or if you want to try and connect while you’re down there.

  1. I do not typically attend many of the panels or keynotes either, just a few. I mostly go to visit people and catch up on discussions in person. I’ll be there Saturday – Tuesday, as Alvin said, Lord willing.
