GoDaddy: “.net Price Increase on February 1, 2018”

I want to share an email from my GoDaddy account representative that notified me of an impending price increase on .net domain names. The price of .net domain names will increase by $1.00 on February 1. Customers can renew their existing .net domain names or transfer their .net domain names to GoDaddy before February 1 to take advantage of the lower price.

My guess is that most domain registrars are passing along the Verisign price increase to their customers. I would imagine the price difference depends on the domain registrar and the current price a customer pays already.

Here’s the email I received yesterday afternoon notifying me of the .net price increase:

“Starting on February 1st, 2018, the .NET Registry is increasing the price for all Registrars on .NET domains. As result, GoDaddy will be increasing the pricing by $1.00 USD for all new registrations, renewals, and transfers for the .NET TLD.

If you would like to take advantage of the current rates before the increase, please be sure to reach out to me before the price change on February 1, 2018. Once the change is implemented, we will be unable to retroactively price any domain names.”
