Is Southwest Airlines planning to open airport clubs and lounges? If domain name registrations are an early indicator, the airline is planning to open its own Southwest Airline Clubs or Southwest Airlines Lounges. In fact, a week and a half ago, The Street wrote about Southwest Airlines opening its first airport lounge.
This morning in my DomainTools Registrant Monitor alert email, I noticed several domain names that are related to Southwest Airlines. These domain names were registered at MarkMonitor under the DNStinations, Inc. privacy service offered by the corporate-favored domain registrar:
- SouthwestLounges .com
- SWAClub .com
- SWAClubs .com
- SWALounge .com
- SWALounges .com
These domain names currently forward to the Southwest Airlines homepage.
Notably, SouthwestClub.com and SouthwestLounge.com have been registered by third parties for a longer period of time. These two domain names seem pretty descriptive and unrelated to the airline as long as they are not used in an infringing manner.
Domain names are often an early indicator of a corporate launch or branding effort. News about Southwest Airlines opening airport clubs and lounges has already been released, and securing domain names is a good way to protect the brand.

As someone like me who travels all over the world, the best airport and the best lounge in the world is Singapore Changi airport..
I am a Delta Diamond millions mile and Delta has the best lounge in USA..

It was announced 6 weeks ago that they’re opening lounges.
Various points/travel sites reported on it for example

Totally off my radar. I haven’t flown that airline in almost 10 years.
