Domain Name Bought for $10: Closed 3 Deals

I want to share an interesting story about a domain name I recently owned. The three word .com domain name was originally acquired in 2021 for $10 in a DropCatch Discount Club backorder. There is nothing that stands out about this particular domain name.

For a few years, it sat without any purchase interest. It was listed for $997 on Afternic with a 10 month LTO option. In 2024, someone purchased it via LTO. They paid four months before canceling the LTO. The total payout was $338.96.

After the LTO was canceled, I repriced the domain name to $2,997. Nine months later, it was sold again on another 10 month LTO deal. This time, the other party paid for three months. The total payout was $719.28.

When the LTO was canceled for a second time, I raised the price again. This time, the price was $4,999. This morning, I saw the domain name went on hold at Afternic. I was expecting another LTO deal but I was pleasantly surprised. Instead, the domain name sold for its BIN price.

In total, I will make a little more than $5k after commission. Not too bad for a $10 acquisition.
